Pittsburgh in Film: I give up

Posted on Updated on

So. I know that I promised that I would make a list of movies filmed in Pittsburgh. I made one before and said I would come back to finish the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s, BUT it is getting tedious and I’ve put this off far too long.

I thought about it (much like I do with many other posts) and decided that it doesn’t really fit into the scope of the blog recently and also there really is no point in me doing it. You can find lists of films in Pittsburgh in two separate places – I recommend the Pittsburgh Film Office’s Filmography. If you want a comprehensive list, cross check that list with the one on Wikipedia.

I will however, give you a list of awesome movies that are more recently shot in Pittsburgh that you should watch. Most people don’t know that these films were actually shot in the beautiful city.

I made the list. Had it all linked up. Everything was ready to go. Hit publish and then wordpress asked me to log in again. I did and everything was lost.

Go check out the films on the lists linked to earlier or just google it. There are some good ones (Dogma, Perks of Being A Wall Flower, Dark Knight Rises, Zach and Miri Make A Porno, Adventureland, etc.)

I’ll leave you with this film poster for a movie from the 80s.
